Sure J1850 circuit have changed since old fgtech v48. From DB15 both involved pins go to respective transistors, then to something like a 74hc14 throw another transistor. Bla bla Also pins from MAX481 that should go to MCU go throw another set of what seems to be another 74hc14. Seems to me there are 5 74hc14 in this new hw, not 3 like the older. Here is my guess on V53.

Looking china clone and comparing whit eu clone y see two diferences at first sight. 1- missing one led near power led.
I put them and switch on when plug on usb. 2- missing one capacitator near U15.

Well, more news. Just made an experiment, removed transistors (white crossed in the photo) and made (the red) bridges just to make the circuit as closer as possible to the V48 that worked fine on PWM. Here's photo with changes. And guess what. I can now ID the ECU sucessfully. Communication is back.:) But.
(yes, there is always a BUT) the ecu doesn't enter programming mode to read or write to it.:( I think is missing programming voltage in some pin of the OBD plug and the circuit skipped with this mod should be in any way responsible of it. I have galletto v54 eu soft and i installed sucesfully bypassing dongle protect, and whats my surprise its the same that v53 chineese!!!! Nothing changes, only added 1.exe that run whit dongle. EOBD2.exe its the same as chineese.
Only change the serial of interface because when i run it run but not detect interface serial. If someone have v54 eu clone whit dongle please upload ftdi read to test the chineese clone. Both share the same software and I think both are made in china but the one that I bought from ebay it has a better quality of manufacture and the components are not erased, like in china one. The one from china did not work on can obd cars but it work on can in boot mode edc17.
The italian one it seem to work properly on every test I made. I try both on: edc17 boot mode read, write ok both edc17 read obd italian ok, chinese failed ford focus 1.8 tddi pwm itallian ok. Chinese failed mercedes delphi dcm3.5 piezotech jtag nexus both ok vag tsi 1.2 simos itallian read ok.

I will try to make more tests and post the results can you give me the link of the ebay seller? I already told in post. I have a 100% working unit and a CANBUS failing unit. I swapped parts from the failing unit to the working one with the intention to reproduce the fault in the working one and thus discover which part is the wrong one. I swapped U9, U8, U17, 82C250, the relay that is next to the 82c250. Don't know if any other parts other than MCU are involved in CANBUS.
