I was visiting Bangkok on my own and being a female globe-trotter I was looking for a safe and elegant Hotel, where I would be able to enjoy some peace at the end of each hectic day in the city. In my case, 'peace' translates into excellent service, impeccable accommodation and good food. This place has it all! Plus the most smiley and warm-hearted staff I had ever come across in my journeys so far.
Overall: Airport pick-up was a lovely experience, since they sent a limo with driver in uniform. I reached the Villa around 6 a.m. Which was way too early for check-in and yet, they gave me a beautiful guestroom, fully equipped and wonderfully kept, so that I could rest/shower/sleep whilst waiting for my room to be prepared.
The room I was given was spacious, gleaming clean and bathed in sunshine! But it was on the new wing of the property, and I wanted to experience the classic finesse of the original building from the 40s, so they upgraded me into the Executive Suite, which was the first owners' original bedroom, from that era. Luxurious, beautifully made, spotless and with exquisite views of the pool. The food at the restaurant was outstanding. Marvelously cooked with attention to detail. Each and every one of the people working there, including the owner of course, made me feel like being at home.
Always with a smile, always willing to assist with each and every need, they made me feel truly comfortable and safe. It was such a pleasure staying there!
Also, the Villa's location is superb, right on Sukhumvit and so close to the boat pier, the sky train and the bus stop to everywhere else in the city! (Do as the locals do and take the river boat instead of bus/metro!So much fun and you avoid Bangkok's insane traffic) Bangkok is an enchanting city, where I intent to return to many times from now on, and it's such a relief to know that I've found a place there I can call home.

Stayed at Ariyasom villa (AV) two times during our recent trip to Thailand. I was traveling alone with my two kids and had precooked 2 nights prior to arrival but immediately also booked 2 more nights for our return-home-stay in Bangkok. We took the sky train from the airport, there is a stop just near by, only a short 100 B or less tuk-tuk/taxi ride. This way you will avoid the traffic going from the airport. The train is safe, clean and efficient. Arrival was smooth and from there and onward things just kept getting better and better. The rooms; we saw 4 different during our all simply amazing.

The decor and general feeling is elegant / colonial, you simply feel good. Bathrooms and products elegant. There is simply nothing bad to say, the pool was amazing, grounds beautiful. Staff smiling and friendly without being intrusive. Food good, but vegetarian:).
However, the best part is simply the experience of coming home to this oasis in the middle of a hectic capital. The sounds dim, water and shade replace noise and pollution. When lying in the pool you are just aware of the vibrant city around you but this is a hideaway where you can rest and enjoy life.
Placed on sukumvit ski one it is not in the center but the grand palace and war Po can be reached by sky train and a boat ride in less than one hour. There is a short taxi ride to one of the major shopping areas. In short, I have stayed in many fine (and less fine:) hotels in my life but I can honestly that Ariyasom Villa is one of, if not THE best place I have ever had the pleasure of staying! Will I be back? Will I recommend it? All ready have, many times!
After ten years of visiting various hotels in Bangkok, I have by far found my favorite. The Ariyasomvilla is filled with old-world charm which is quickly vanishing from our ever modernized world. From the moment you step on the grounds you know you have landed in an oasis, surrounded by lush vegetation. Step inside and the past greets you with intricate carved doors, rich Thai silk curtains and upholstery, minority weavings, rich wooden floors, traditional Thai furniture, etc. The staff treated us with great kindness, respect and were always helpful. The sky train is only a short walk away and they showed me with maps how to get everywhere I wanted to go.
If you prefer taxi, they will arrange a safe taxi. I noticed the staff constantly watching over their guests. Owner David is quite delightful and can help out with any special needs - he showed me clearly how to get to find out of the way places such as the Jim Thompson outlet by BTS. Bumrungrad hospital is a three minute walk down the street. Hands down, this is greatest place to stay if having care there.
We had their comprehensive medical. It got close to 10am. I quickly excused myself, zipped over to the Ariyasomvilla for their amazing breakfast and was back in no time to finish up at Bumrungrad. Before coming here I was a bit nervous about mosquitos after reading some reviews. I actually hardly noticed them, even thought it was rainy season.
The mosquitos here seemed no worse here than anywhere else in Bangkok. Furthermore there is plenty of natural based mosquito repellant available for guests to use. Pool is peaceful and delightful.
My room was incredibly quiet. I am a light sleeper and anything will wake me. As this is a hotel with management which aims to please, if I had a room which was noisy, I would have asked to switch. I did have neighbors next door which I never heard.walls seem thick.
Restaurant is scrumptious. The cook serves dishes with perfect presentation. Evening atmosphere very romantic. I suggest getting a room with breakfast included. Lots to choose from. Coffee, teas and hot coco all delicious too. (No packets used here!) If you prefer Thai street food, just meander down the street a few minutes and sample away!
If you are looking for glitz and bars, this probably isn't your place. But if you are hunting for that old-world charm which is very hard to find, the Ariyasomvilla just can't be beat. It may cost more than other places in Bangkok, but I'm willing to bet you'll look back with fondness on your days here for a long time! (Hotel is great for singles, couples or families.). My adult daughter and I stayed here for four nights.
The location is very good - within a few blocks of the skytrain, which enabled us to travel about the city. The meals at the restaurant were absolutely outstanding. The problem with that was we weren't motivated to eat elsewhere very often. The street outside the hotel is filled with food carts, so lunches or a quick dinner were very easy. It is in a very safe part of the city.
We walked around during the day and at night and didn't feel threatened or afraid. The Thai staff couldn't have been kinder, more courteous or helpful. The small pool was very inviting. The location was problematic only when it came to getting a taxi. Bangkok is divided into districts (Sois) and this hotel is located in what is called Soi 1; many taxi drivers in other parts of the city didn't want to drive there (Bangkok traffic being what it is, I guess).
And no taxi drivers knew where the little hotel was. However, we both heartily recommend this hotel. Had we stayed longer, I'm sure we could have come up with a solution to that small problem. Dear Margaret, Many thanks for taking the time to write us a review.
I was delighted to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us. I wanted to comment on the taxi situation. There are several issues here – the main one is that taxis in Bangkok have had no increase in fares for over 15 years.
Consequently, the drivers are always looking for ways to make more money. They are often reluctant to come to the busy areas of town whilst using the metre. Sukhumvit is a busy and often congested area so they are looking to negotiate.
Its easy and straight forward if we book taxis to the airport but short journeys out to shopping etc can take time to organize. The best ways around town are to use the sky train, underground, canal boat and river boat services. 'Soi' is the Thai word for a side street – so we are located in Sukhumvit Soi 1 – one side of the road is odd and the other even numbers.
Unfortunately, there are no professional requirements for taxi drivers so often their knowledge of town is very vague! Again, thanks for your review. With best regards David. We really enjoyed our 3-night stay here, we had a standard room and did a special deal where for 18,000 baht we had 3 nights with breakfast, a massage each and a dinner, I think this represented good value. The room was attractive and spacious.
The pool was lovely and well needed after traipsing around in the searing Bangkok heat. The dinner was really good, authentic flavours but not your standard Thai fare - tasty and very generous portions. I was less impressed by the breakfasts, pancakes were good but the vegetarian cooked breakfast was disappointing. The area is a bit odd, it is very central but without much of interest in the immediate vicinity, but it felt perfectly safe to walk around even at night. The canal boats were a really fast and cheap way to get around and a there is a pier just a 5 minute walk away.
